Another great time at the Yahr house. Thanks!!
Could have been much cleaner!
House needs a thorough cleaning. Many cobwebs, upstairs bathroom was very dirty, hair in tubs, hair in one of the beds, etc. Worked for my extended family for sleeping but I was a little embarrassed as they came from out of state to stay and expected a much more pleasant result. Beautiful area though.
What a gem
This place is a gem. So glad I got to spend a wonderful weekend full I'd memories here
More clean towels would have been helpful.
Loved the kitchen and extended dining room/living room.
Loved having all the parking and the Park available.
I would certainly use it again.
Our Stay at Yahr House
On the whole, the house was as we expected from the posted photos and worked well for our small group of five on our annual gathering celebrating more than 50 years of friendship. It was a plus for each of us to have our own bedroom that was a nice size. The kitchen was quite well equipped, appliances up to date. The first floor is nicely decorated and welcoming. Because of rainy weather we were indoors a lot. Access to Roku on the TV was appreciated. The heating unit was easy to use and efficient. (Air conditioners were loud but that is common.)
Nearby West Bend and Kewaskum offered pleasant and convenient dining, and we enjoyed drives to state parks (e.g., Kettle Moraine) within a reasonable distance of the house. Side trips to Milwaukee, or even Lake Geneva or Port Washington, would have been feasible but for us walking and driving in the rain was just too daunting.
The adjacent beach park is very pleasant. On one walk one of our group enjoyed sighting a flock of wild turkeys. If rain had not prevented it, a hike around the lake would have been enjoyable. But for the sake of guests with a disability or limited walking capability, the house description should clarify that although some of the pathways to the beach are paved, it is definitely not possible to push a wheelchair there and back because the road and grassy pathway are too steep to navigate safely coming or going. However, it is quickly reached by car.
We were hoping for more of a water view, since it is mentioned as an asset of the property. Once there probably was such a view, but it has become overgrown. Once leaves appear on the trees and shrubs, the view is more obstructed. Fall and winter would allow it however. A bit of pruning and trimming could also make it a real asset in spring and summer.
More care regarding cleaning up the little insects that are inevitable in a country setting would be nice. There were too many spider webs and dead bugs collected in the bottoms of some light shades and corners. Top edges of the baseboards were dust-coated, and some of the small area carpets need washing. A little more attention to these things would improve the general impression the house makes.
On the whole, we enjoyed our stay there and would recommend it to others. It would be delightful for families with young children who would love the little beach, playground, and picnic opportunities nearby. But as older adults, we too found much to enjoy.
House was very clean and lots of space for all guest.
Accommodations were great for a weekend away. The house is located a short walk to the lake and park and is secluded from other park guests. Plenty of outdoor space for yard activities and a nice fire pit.
