Relaxing and comfortable
Overall it was a great stay! The cats were very friendly and the view was beautiful! The pigs were obviously used to being around people and were very willing to pose for pictures. The yellow lab, according to my sons, is the best dog ever! Quiet and so peaceful. The house was very clean, cool and comfortable. Watching the cows go for a group swim in the pond was quite comical. Yes, they were in water up to there chins, even the calves. They were known as domesticated hippos. ;o)
Since this is a review, I must be honest so improvements can be made. Such a simple little thing to make sure is done is to stock the toilet paper. We arrived (5 of us) to one almost empty roll. No one was obviously around to ask a question and when I finally found someone, it took a long time to get it. Probably felt longer because of thirst and the need to go. A basic first thing on the list to make sure is taken care of before guests arrive. Just an awkward moment but turned out just fine. There were a few ants in the kitchen. Wasn't wigged out too much but something to think about when non-country dwellers arrive. However, ants belong outside, not in a kitchen. The sink in the kitchen is not set up to wash dishes easily. Shallow and not divided. Cool antique sink but not very practical for kitchen use. The faucet is for a bathtub and wastes a lot of water when filling a jug. Loved the antique faucet, but not practical for a kitchen. The porch was the biggest issue I had. It smelled of cat urine something awful. Heat and humidity I'm sure played a part in that and I think the only way to fix it is to redo it. We made sure to keep the 2 sets of French doors to the porch closed and that helped keep the odor out of the living area of the house. We also made sure not to keep any clothing out there so as not to absorb the odor.
I spent a lot of time there on my own because I was getting over being sick. It was wonderful to have the peace and quiet to help in healing and I think that played a huge part in my recovery. I definitely would like to come back should the opportunity arise.
Apologies for the issues. We have taken care of the odor. Thank you for your feedback
Beautifully updated with old country charm
We had a great 3 night stay, too good that neither kid wanted to leave. Loved all the animals, and the breakfast was knock your socks off good. I can't describe how amazing everything was!
Great place, Great people!
Could not have found a better place to stay. Carmen is an amazing host.
Great place to stay for the whole family.
Nice country location
Clean, well furnished. Everything you need. The hobby farm animals provided great entertainment. The owner was beyond nice. Would definitely stay here again.
Relaxing Get-Away Long Weekend
Let me tell you first that this was a great, relaxing and peaceful weekend in the country on the edge of the farm. Carmen and Scott are both very friendly and helpful. My wife especially enjoyed the farm animals and sounds and we took a couple of walks around the property. Definitely plan on staying over the weekend, the delicious breakfast is worth staying for all by itself. Everything in the house was as described and in good condition. The house was easy to find from the road with its yellow paint and very comfortable.
Thank you Carmen and Scott for a great stay,
Cheryl and Todd
Thank you Cheryl and Todd! We loved meeting you and Daisy!
Great house, fun location, and best hosts
My wife and I stayed at the Cozy Cottage for one month after my surgery. The house is located on a farm with a small lake and fun farm animal life around. The main floor of the house has a very nice screened-in veranda, large kitchen, dining area, and 3 bedrooms. In the basement, there are additional bedrooms as well as a washer and a dryer. The kitchen is fully equipt including a coffee grinder and a Ninja blender. Not shown in the pictures but the house has a sturdy railing at the entrance and a bathroom railing bar. These railings were extremely helpful for me after the surgery. My wife and I worked remotely and had no issues with their WiFi (both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz connections are available). The connection was able to handle 2 VPNs concurrently with Netflix. The TV comes with a guest account on Netflix and a few other apps that we didn't use much. Overall, the house is more attractive than in the pictures above. It has character and the decorations inside make it feel very warm and cozy.
The hosts (owners) Carmen and Scott live a few houses down and are the nicest and most helpful people we have *ever* met. We were amazed beyond belief by their generosity and attentiveness to all our needs and concerns. After they found out that I was after surgery with a pregnant wife they brought us delicious food (try their cottage bacon, it's amazing). Both Carmen and Scott are terrific cooks and we loved Scott's "experiments". They even helped us load up the car and made special T-shirts for us. They both have very interesting backgrounds and a delight to talk with. We will definitely miss them! I'll need another surgery in a year or two and we will definitely stay at the Cozy Cottage again.
