Spent weekend in St. Augustine, and this one BR apartment was close walking distance to everything we wanted to see. Located above the Subway, so always had the smell of Subway bread. Clean, basic decor, small bathroom, 2 TV sets. (One with non-working remote, so we never turned that one on.) Units 1 & 2 face King Street, so a bit of traffic noise bothered our sleep until we turned on the air conditioner, which covered up car sounds. Honestly saw no bugs while in St. Augustine last week in April. Management responded quickly when we couldn't find WiFi code. Good value for price.
We had some difficulty because I had not pre downloaded the VRBO app but it all worked out.
The apartment was as advertised and very, very clean.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Apartment was clean, convenient and well appointed. Parked the car and spent the rest of the week wandering Old Town. Historic sites, architecture, food... all was great fun! Will revisit to catch the things we missed.
Was switched to suite 2 upon arrival unit was very clean and modern location is great easy walk to downtown Restaurants Winery Distillery and candy factory right next door great diner around corner for breakfast Definitely would recommend staying here the Italian restaurant on the corner next door to the gas station has amazing pizza some of the best I have ever had We enjoyed our week here beautiful city
Property location is a good 5-10 minute walk to everything. Will definitely be staying again.
Dirty. Smelly. Do not stay here.
When I arrived it was night time and the unit smelled really bad, like mildew and nasty trash. The shower door was broken and the owner came over to fix it. He said he did not smell anything. I reported that the TV did not work, and he said someone stole the batteries from the remote. Also, I mentioned the trash clutter outside of the building (in front of the steps to this unit), and he said that there was trash everywhere, meaning St. Augustine. (A trash can would have solved the issue). Not so! That night I could not sleep from the smell and had a bad headache. I sent a text message to the realtor about the smell. No answer. Then later that day, contacted VRBO. The realtor came at dark at the behest of VRBO. I explained that the odor was so distinct that I was en route to a hotel for the night. He did not admit that he smelled it, however, opened the windows and turned on the a/c. The next day I stay away until late afternoon to give time for the unit to "air out". When I returned, once again, the odor overwhelmed me. I had paid for a month's stay. Otherwise, I would have left.
I asked the realtor if they would put me in another unit. They sent me to the unit across the hall which had a mild odor from mildewed towels and linens. Later, I learned that the maids left wet towels and linens in the washing machine for days, before returning to put in the dryer. I could not get a hot shower. The water was tepid and had a light flow. Because of that, the dishes never got clean in the dishwasher. Also, the dishwasher is improperly installed and it has a wire hanging loose which prevents the door from closing properly.
The TV in this unit did not work either, nor the WIFI. I texted the realtor, and he fixed it after 2 days!
The windows were thick with black soot. Also, both porches, stairs and porch furniture.
The front porch is in need of repair, as evidenced by rotten wood visible under the stairs.
Over all, this place is dirty and smelly. I will never return here!
FUTURE POTENTIAL GUESTS: PLEASE READ THROUGH ALL OF OUR REVIEWS. Jeannette, I apologize that you did not have a satisfactory stay at 135 King Street. We aim to give our guests a great experience at all times. However, I do not even know where to start with this review! Your endless complaints come as a shock to us at the management company. Lets start at the beginning: After your arrival, you complained that the unit had a moldy smell that was bothering you. We sent out two people to check it out and they did not notice any odor. So we offered to move you to another unit in the building. (since then, its been occupied by many guests - NO COMPLAINTS) We moved 5 separate guests around in order to accommodate you. The unit we moved you to was 100% ready and was double checked by me. You then complained about the TV not working, I went to the property and found that it was operator error. We had it working in 2 minutes, you didn't even try to get it working. Only a few of the many complaints that you list were even addressed with us until the review that you submitted. If you have a problem, please let us know while you are staying in the unit! This way we can take care of it. That is not what happened. Your review is clearly an outlier and seems to be a result of someone who would find a problem with any accommodations. Even in beautiful St Augustine Florida, in winter!!
