We are an easy going family- we have a farm, spend our time outside- so the style and location of this house appealed to us for a 3 night visit. I started out upbeat, thinking the house was “quirky” with crooked stairs, wobbly door knobs, and squeaky floors. It was clean, kudos to cleaning crew.
This house felt like it was a step above a seasonal hunting camp. A few quick fixes or easy updates would help a lot! Some notes to next visitors: upstairs shower needs all hot water, only drips of cold water to be comfortable; downstairs showers has the H/C faucets backwards… all still “quirky”, laugh it off.
My 2 biggest complaints are how uncomfortable the upstairs bed was, and the dampness of the downstairs. The bed was lumpy, not something my husband and I looked forward to after being busy and hot all day! My son slept downstairs and woke up each morning with a sore throat, which went away as we got outside. It’s been a humid summer with almost daily rain-it’s totally a the struggle to keep things dry! Bunk bed room was fine for my daughter.
There is no phone service while in most of that area so plan ahead- learn the roads as you drive around. Spotty GPS kept trying to tell us the house was on the other side of the road! I think the ad said weak WiFi but there was none.
The house was sufficient. Obviously not fancy, we didn’t expect fancy. I didn’t mind the ants on the counters, but the mouse poop on the oven on the last day had me ready to pack up and head home!
