Lovely views from every room
We arrived in the light and had no trouble accessing the house. The windows from all rooms provided amazing views on the sea and mountains behind. Some of the little details were missing (we had no soap in the bathroom) but overall the house is a very relaxing place to stay and the internet and power worked fine for the time we were there.
Would recommend if you want to spend some time off grid!
The property is accessed from a 1/3 mile-long unpaved road, off the main highway. Stone steps lead to the front door. We arrived after sunset, and going up and down the steps in the dark was a hurdle.
The house itself is spacious, but spartan, with minimal decorations or artwork. The kitchen has most features you would expect. The king-size bed and heavy comforter were very nice. The three heat sources, dining room wall heater, living room wood fireplace and bedroom gas fireplace were sufficient, but took work to maintain a comfortable environment.
Satellite TV was not available during our visit.
Although water is a part of the natural beauty of the property, trees obscure the view. We did see some wildlife.
The property could be ideal in the summertime, but due to the rare snowy conditions during our visit, access in and out of the property was marginal, and we would hesitate to recommend it under similar conditions.
My spouse and I were looking for a peaceful Christmas holiday getaway. We found that in spades at Stephen’s lovely oceanfront cottage.
The cottage and all of the amenities were just perfect, more than either of us imagined. The posted on line pictures of the cottage do not do this space justice, it is just lovely. We loved the “off the grid” ideals of this beautiful place. As a host Stephen was super and very responsive of any questions we had.
Definitely recommended and we definitely would like to return.

Gorgeous Location and Responsive Host
We had a great stay at Stephen's home. The location is amazing with an incredible view. The home is modern and clearly new but still had a cozy feeling. Despite other comments, we did not have any issues with the road in. We were in a Mazda 3 and arrived in the dark so we took it slow and everything was fine. There was no water on arrival but we planned ahead and brought some based on the comments from other guests. This is an off-the-grid home and we visited in November so using the generator twice a day was required. It was very straight forward to use and honestly, just part of the adventure! Stephen was very responsive when we had questions which was much appreciated. I think with a few added amenities this would have been a 5-star stay.
Views for days, peaceful and away from it all, yet every comfort and convenience!
My friend and I stayed at the cottage for three nights. We loved that it was "off the grid" yet offered all the creature comforts and modern amenities of a fine hotel.
When you first enter the home you are struck by the open and Airy layout, all focused around that view. And what a view it is. Water water everywhere, with doors to the deck from almost every space within the home.
We thoroughly enjoyed relaxing on the chaise lounges on the deck and soaking in the view with a glass of wine, using the propane grill to BBQ, and even took a trek down the slope to access the rocky beach and water. Evenings were spent in front of a roaring fire that we built using the supplied wood and kindling. Stephen was very accessible and quick to respond with any questions that we had.
We hiked, dined, checked out the local shops and assisted the Canadian economy! Just a few miles north of the home is charming Pender Harbour. Had a great breakfast at a little cafe there, shopped at the local IGA which was well stocked with anything you could need, and there's even a liquor store right there. To the south is adorable Half Moon Bay with another great little market and cafe. All the locals were friendly and gracious. Sechelt is about 20 minutes south and provides all the amenities of a good size town, complete with coffee, restaurants and shops. Also make sure to check out Secret Cove.
We loved exploring Sunshine Coast. This is our first visit to this area and we will definitely be back. Thank you Stephen for sharing your hime and providing us with such a wonderful opportunity and experience. Alicia and Michele
