We love our Corey Lake cottage. It has been a peaceful retreat for our family for over 40 years. My younger sister and her family lived in the cottage for 15 months while attending a local community college. We have celebrated birthdays, weddings and holidays together.
I can still see my father slowly walking to the lake with his fishing pole. He worked so hard to remodel the cottage over the years, it was always great to see him take some time to enjoy the lake.
We all learned to swim at Corey Lake and one summer when I was in my early twenties I swam across the lake to the camp beach on the other side. Last year, some 30 years later, I tried it again and I made it!
These days we like to walk around the lake on the road. It's a 6 mile hike and due to very little traffic, it's very pleasant. In September the lake is host to a Triathlon. The roads around the area are well marked with the letter 'B' for bike route. Just watch out for the deer. My husband almost hit one while riding a couple of years ago.
I don't fish much but my brother tells me he catches something every time he stays at the cottage. He and his buddies stay every spring and put in the pier and ready the cottage for the summer. They work hard to get it ready but they find time to fish and play poker.
