Beautiful Property- needs more TLC- - Ricardo attended all our requests😊
Stayed 9 days with grandkids who enjoyed cayaking and going To las Delicias (sunken island). The music from nearby Holel was not a problem to us.
Recomendation- let guests know upon arrival extra cost for laundry service; the house needs dusting in closets, drawers, shelves, studio, bathroom grout scrubbing and wash shower curtains with mildew & window cleaning - all it needs is TLC for this BEAUTIFUL PROPERTIY-
Enjoyed our stay -thank you 😊
Loud cheap rental at a ridiculously high rate.
The first night the music was extremely loud. The house has vaulted ceilings with windows left open across the whole ceiling. Even with every window treatment and door closed the music comes in through the vaulted open windows which were to high to close. I love club music and I like to party but after 13 hours of travel i did not appreciate it. I also did not appreciate the urine smell in the master bath. It about knocked me down when I opened the bathroom. Needless to say I did not use the master bath the entire trip. The couches were covered in cheap slip covers with holes and I don’t mean custome slip covers. You know the ugly brown ones you put on the couch in college that you pulled out of the trash. That’s what I’m talking about. The dressers in the master bedroom didn’t open. I think they were stuck from moisture? There were only top sheets on two of the beds and no covers. Basically just a bare mattress. The keys to the locked gate outside were a pain in the ass and you needed very small wrists to work the goofy lock. My husband wasn’t able to. All this said, if it was priced at hostel pricing say around $75 to $100 per night I would have given it 5 stars. It was relatively clean and in a good location. There was also a nice care taker that cane to clean our dishes and make our beds that was a nice surprise. We booked last minute and this was the only thing available. If I had it to do again I would have stayed at the loud hostel next door that was cheap and super cool instead of the expensive dump next door to the party.
I am sorry you did not enjoy your time at Villa Bahia Azul. I wish you would have called immediately when you discovered any issues so we could have addressed them at that time. The music at the hostel next door seems to be sporadic. We have had no complaints about it for months now so thought it had been addressed by their management. We will speak with them again. Thanks for bringing it to our attention. We will have a look at the drawers in the master bedroom. We went through the house immediately after you left and did notice a strong disinfectant smell in the bathroom. Unfortunately, the housekeeping staff closes the bathroom doors when they are done cleaning so it did not have a chance to dissipate. I can assure you it was not what you suggested. I have addressed this with the staff. The gate lock has been changed.
Pretty but rainy, noisy and expensive
The house itself is very nice. Great view off the back porch. Property manager Chris and maid Cecilia are very helpful and nice. Problem is the bar/nightclub/hostel next door called Mamallena. Very loud music most days and nights that literally reverberates through the house and cannot be mitigated. Anyone choosing to stay here really needs to be aware of this. Also, we found cost of getting to beaches by water or land taxis to be quite expensive yet necessary since you cannot walk to any accessible beaches from the house. We had an 11-year old and a 76 year old grandmother so some of the beaches (ie Bluffs) were just too strong for them to be able to swim, in addition to being quite far away. Also, if you go to Playa Drago and/or Starfish Beach at that location, be aware that the sand there feels like tiny shards of glass in your feet and skin. Even the locals acknowledge it. I do not like to complain but hope that providing these details and reality of the stay will be helpful to future travelers. Even though it rained most every day (and literally for the last 48 hours of our visit), we still had a good time and enjoyed the many beauties and charms of Bocas Del Toro.
Beautiful outside area and great location - house pretty dirty
I will start with the positives. The house has a great location and the dock/outdoor patio is amazing. Also, the sea kayaks and bottle of wine were a bonus. The staff was very responsive and gave us a late check out which we appreciated. The negatives. When we arrived the place was very dirty. The floor was sticky and turned our feet black. There were random things left in the house - one flip flop on the floor, broken sunglasses, trash under the bed. I called the property manager and asked to get it cleaned. They did clean the next morning and it was much better. There was no basic amenities in the house such as salt and pepper, shampoo, etc... Also, the place is advertised as having laundry yet I was charged $5 for doing a load. For an expensive, "upscale" rental I would assume the experience would be better. Despite the reviews the hostel noise did not bother us. They shut down pretty early. Overall the place is beautiful but they need to do some work on the house.
Great stay - highly recommended.
Overall great place - definitely seemed to be up there with the best places to rent in Bocas town (from what I could tell). Pictures are accurate - its modern, well equipped, air conditioning and internet work well, comfortable beds etc. Best feature for us was the dock/porch - we hung out there a lot of the day, used the kayaks, swam in the water etc. Some other comments below discuss the hostel next door - maybe it was the time of year, but it didn't bother us (didn't seem to go on late at night) and we enjoyed the music they were playing during the day. Chris was quick and easy to communicate with + picked us up from airport (though its an easy walk). Highly recommended!
Great Place to stay!!
This was a great house in a perfect location, great deck right over the water and easy process for booking. The only reason it didn't receive a 5 was the house was not set up with towels when we arrived. The did immediately bring us towels once we noticed we didn''t have any. The house keeper would leave beach towels daily but did not replace bathroom towels when she took them. I would rent this place again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Bocas Del Toro.
