Great place in a great location...
We spent 4 days in Chicago in this modern and clean apartment, very centrally located to downtown (~4 miles), the zoo (~1 mile), Lincoln Park (~0 miles), and Wicker Park (~3 miles). We took advantage of cool local breakfast and coffee spots before starting our day. Highly recommended.
Great location near DePaul
This third floor unit was conveniently located blocks away from our DePaul visit. The apt. was clean except the windows on the outside were filthy, The enormous deck was used sparingly because of the 90 plus temps.. The neighborhood is quiet, and the apt. is close to a Trader Joe’s ,Walgreens, and some clothing shops. We walked to most all of our meals.
The master bedroom has thin white drapes which do not block the sun in the master and living space. Luckily I brought my sleep mask and we did not sit for long in the apt. The master bedroom carpet needs to be replaced too. Each bathroom has 2 large towels, 2 wash clothes and one hand towel. I would have liked to not have to wash towels each day, the washer and dryer are convenient. I would stay here again if the window issues were addressed as well as the carpet replaced. The coffee pot is not a Keruig style.
Trendy, comfy apartment on Chicago's North Side
This pad was perfect for us! My wife and in-laws were in town for a graduation ceremony. We wanted to stay on the North Side to be close to campus while still being near the rest of Chicago. This apartment offered a comfortable and stylish place to stay. There are two bedrooms, including a master suite with walk-in closet and en suite bathroom. The kitchen has all of the essentials and opens up into the dining room. The real star of the show is the patio, which is practically another room.
The place is located in the northern part of Lincoln Park on Halsted. It is a quick walk to several Lincoln Park restaurants, clubs, Boystown, Wrigleyville, and the L. Access to the rest of the city is easy along Halsted or the Brown Line at the Diversey L stop.
Great location - comfy, quiet & clean
Overall loved this place. Positives first: awesome location. Don’t let the street fool you. Walk either direction on Halstead and you’ll find tons of shopping, restaurants, etc. We found the property to be clean and just about everything we needed was provided. Sonder was very accommodating when we asked for extra towels and blankets and also allowed us to check in early. Beds were comfy and the balcony was a great hang out spot.
The reason I didn’t give it 5 stars was there was no way to block out the morning light, which made it hard to sleep in. I would suggest hanging heavier drapes that completely cover the bedroom and living room windows. It affects both bedrooms because one bedroom has a partially open wall at the top. Other than that, no complaints!
Thanks for staying with Sonder! We’re glad we could host you. We appreciate your suggestions regarding heavier blackout drapes for the windows and hope you’ll stay with us again soon in any Sonder city.
The Sonder Team
The place was filthy & it was hard to get a good night's sleep.
I have spent a lot of time wondering how to best review this property. First let me start off by saying that I booked for a week-long stay for the XMas holiday and there were two adults and one toddler. When we arrived there was a strong scent of cleaning products in the air, but the place was very dirty, and there was hair everywhere. Hair was in clumps attached almost to every object of furniture in the place. The rug was so dirty and dusty that we couldn't even walk on. The floors hadn't been mopped in what seems like months. The table on the rug has three legs and is attached to an extremely heavy marble base (40-50lbs). I believe it is homemade. With the slightest amount of weight on it, it tips over, which is a huge safety hazard for young kids.
The management company sent someone to clean, but the place was so filthy that it really didn't help. We ended up rolling up the rug, sliding the heavy tilting table to the side, and trying to stay gone as much as possible. It was pretty miserable. The place needs a deep cleaning. I wouldn't recommend the place to anyone who is concerned about cleanliness or anyone traveling with a young person.
Another drawback is that the second bedroom gets light from the living room because the wall separating the two rooms has a glass partition at the top. So even watching tv at night or keeping a small lamp on meant that light would flood into the room. The other room has sheer curtains so there is no way to block out street light or early sunlight. If your kids require a dark room to sleep, there won't be much sleep during this trip.
There is a parking space in the garage, but you need two people to access it as the unit does not come with a garage opener. One person enters the building from the street while the other person drives the car around to wait for person one to open the garage. Leaving is much easier though.
This unit is for a group of young friends that want a cool place close to Depaul's campus. Anyone else would probably be annoyed.
