We very much enjoyed our stay at Sunnybrae! The mansion was packed with interesting pieces of history and exploring the maze-like interior entertained the kids (and adults) for hours on end! Beautiful piano, super fun basement, enormous outdoor areas to run and play, and some epic Hide-and-Go Seek that will not soon be forgotten.
The house has everything you need and the owner has provided many thoughtful items to make one's stay easier. Plenty of linens, towels, and extras such as a few fans, fold out tables with extra seating, and misc kitchenware on top of the standard plates, cups, etc.
Communication with the owner was overall good, however, if it weren't for me reaching out to him with some questions, I'm not sure he was planning on ever checking in on us? We are used to hosts asking after a day or so (and throughout our stay) how things are going, do you need anything? It was a bit one-sided but perhaps he was trying to give us space. I'm really not sure. Would have appreciated a brief tour of the house, but again, it wasn't offered and didn't want to bother him much more than I did with my few questions.
Considering the size of the house, the AC was pretty good (hit about 90 while we were there...) The bedrooms and bathrooms were plentiful which was terrific! One or two shower stalls could use a deep cleaning but overall they were tidy and well supplied. There are 3 small kitchens... but likely most future guests will only use the main one on the ground floor as we did. It was surprising to see them on the smaller size, but again, it is fitting for the time period. Gets the job done nonetheless! An outdoor grill would have been ideal as we had hoped for a family cookout.
There is obviously a TON to do in order to maintain this house and the property itself. We appreciated all that the owners have done to open up their magnificent home up for others to enjoy.
Finally, their price point is very fair and reasonable for the fond memories your family will make at this unique and charming place. You won't be disappointed!!!
