Property was exactly as advertised. Very convenient with all the necessities and lots of extras (games, movies, etc). Owners checked in with us upon arrival to make sure everything was acceptable. Great location for our long weekend visit to Chicago.
Great location for a weekend getaway. Walking distance to great food and nite life. Easy access to the L.
Only negatives are L train noise and it’s an older, renovated home (the floors are quite creeky and you can hear the upstairs tenants moving about from time to time). Neither were too bothersome for us but could be important to some.
Cute place! 2 blocks away from the Western Blue Line stop.
This place was easy to find, and perfect for our needs. You can tell the owners care about their place, and their guest comfort. Plenty of towels, toiletries, linens were nice and clean, plenty of seating. The sofa is to die for.... large and comfy. TV was difficult to figure out, as we are not technically inclined people. Lots of options for every movie known to man, but we just wanted CNN and coverage of the Chicago marathon.
The owners are quick to answer questions and give advise... we could have called them with questions on the TV, it was just that it wasn’t that important to us. But with directions and transportation.... thumbs up!
Thanks for sharing your place!
Clean but noisy (inside and out)
Pros. The apartment was clean and well furnished. It had a great location being a block from the train.
Cons. A/C is pre-set not to go below 74 degrees (or apparently the whole thing will bust). It was manageable during the day in June but at night it was extremely hot and the vents are at the ceiling so you don't feel it much. Could open the windows but with the train you'd get no sleep.
The wood floors are extremely creaky. We had little kids who would tiptoe run to the bathroom or to go watch the train and we got a message from the owners (they live below) to keep running to a minimum. We were only in the unit 4 hours that day. The creaky floors were loud even when tiptoeing.
If only the tenant upstairs got the same message. The tenant upstairs was pacing and making so much noise the first night (Saturday) from 12:45-2am and kept us all up. The second night the tenant woke us at 11pm and I'm a deep sleeper.
Needless to say, we won't be back. This is the first place out of many where we have stayed that we won't be returning.
We have since changed the thermostat to a Nest. We were simply trying to conserve energy and be greener. We were unaware that the thermostat prevented people from lowering the temperature below 74, which we agree is high.
We were also unaware of the issue with the tenant upstairs. If we would have known, we would have contacted him to keep it quiet.
Additionally, we want to thank you for your prompt approval of the insurance claim for the items taken from our apartment.
Great Little Chicago Apartment
We rented this apartment for a one week Spring Break adventure in Chicago with 2 adults and 2 teens. The apartment is a short walk to the L, and served as a great home base as we explored the city. It's located on a quiet street with ample parking in the Bucktown neighborhood. Convenient to everything.
Both bedrooms are small, but we weren't there to lounge in bed all day. Beds were comfortable. The kitchen has full sized appliances and you can easily cook as often as you want. Nice sitting room area. All 4 of us were able to watch TV at the end of a day of exploring the city. Our only complaint was no cable TV. They have Amazon Fire for TV. Had some issues watching the March Madness Basketball games and missed a few other channels. We weren't there to watch TV, so we made do.
