Check-in frustrating. Lockbox on 1st gate which was open due to construction behind casa. The old unused box on casa entry gate was redundant and confusing. We excused the maid's offer on her 1st appearance, but when sne never returned for the rest of the month. Contact with the owner/manager was sporadic at best. Be prepared for a strenuous walk from Caratera. Previous renters likely had pets, as we both experienced bug bites after sleeping in beds. House was well equipped for cooking needs but would have appreciated 1 or 2 rolls of toilet paper to start with. The gardner was competent and helpful in passing on communication attempts to the owner. If you're interested in spending time in Ajijic or Chapala, the bus is convenient and inexpensive, (.50cents)or 10 pesos.. but the climb up the road will be a bit of a workout. Worth it for the adventitious and adaptable.
