Charming house in a beautiful location.
Lovely house full of character in excellent location. Great views of river and countryside from kitchen balcony and of Château above from garden terrace.
House was very comfortable and well stocked with all your holiday needs.
Ruth was very easy and pleasant to deal with.
Loved the location on old cobbled street in beautiful Beynac. Short walk to local boulangerie, boucherie and well stocked small shop.
Only downside is the narrow street means loading/unloading car at bottom of hill. You can chance driving up though! This is a small inconvenience but comes with such a location.
So much to do and see in Beynac and surrounding area within short drive (10km). Very enjoyable stay here.
Central and restful
Great pied a terre for central Dordogne. Views of river from kitchen and living room plus upper terrace were spectacular. Indoor temperature were still manageable during record heat wave
Charming house in perfect location
We spent six nights here I. June of 2019. There were four of us but the house could accommodate six quote easily. The house was charming, homey, and well appointed, with views of the Dordogne river and the castle looming above. Sarlat-la-Canéda was an easy ten or fifteen minute drive.
Fantastic if you're after a little piece of history then this is the place, absolutely loved staying there Ruth our host has thought of everything you need. We loved sitting out on the terrace looking up at Chateau de Beynac and then the Dordogne River flowing past out the front it really was a fairytale stay couldn't have asked for anything better we will definitely be back
Thank you for taking the time to review our house. Wonderful that your stay was so enjoyable. We look forward to you visiting again, you would be most welcome. We offer a 10% discount to returning guests.
Lovely house in enchanting Beynac
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Ruth and Mike's attractive home overlooking the Dordogne River on a picturesque street in Beynac. We relished the river views and took memorable strolls in the pretty town.
We also found Beynac to be an ideal central location for exploring the region's many attractions. Sarlat, La Rocque-Gageac, Domme, the Marqueyssac gardens, and the castles of Castelnaud and Les Milandes are all within a drive of 15 minutes or less. The Eyrignac gardens, the Lascaux IV museum, and the lovely town of Limeuil can be reached within 30 minutes. Our longest day trip was to Rocamadour, an hour away and well worth it.
We also got into the rhythm of visiting towns on market day to take in the lively atmosphere -- Sarlat on Saturday, St. Cyprien on Sunday, Le Bugue on Tuesday.
During our 12-day stay, we never ran out of interesting things to do.
Although Beynac has good restaurants, we found ourselves eating most of our dinners at the house. As other reviewers have noted, the kitchen is well-equipped and the outdoor patio is a lovely place to dine in warmer weather. And cooking our meals gave us the perfect excuse for those shopping trips to the delightful food markets!
Our son and daughter-in-law visited France during the same period and stayed at the house for a couple of nights -- long enough for us to appreciate that the house is well set up for hosting two couples.
Ruth's written instructions on finding the house and on using the various appliances were extremely thorough. And when we had an occasional question for her, she answered promptly via email.
Our experience could not have been more positive.
It is always a please to hear guests have enjoyed their stay in Beynac. It always amazes me how much you all manage to see and do during you visit.
Thank you very much for taking the time to write such a glowing review. Do visit us again when you are down this way again, you would be most welcome.
Beautiful house in the perfect location
There's absolutely nothing to fault about this house. We stayed for a week in late August and used it as a base to explore the local area. The house looks down onto the Dordogne river at the front and up to the castle from the rear. It's fully equiped with everything you can possibly think of and quite frankly a load of stuff you wouldn't expect. There was even a cannister to put your stuff in if you want to swim over the river to the shingle beach on the other side. If you looked hard enough there's probably a man stored somewhere to cook and clean for you. It really has everything.
The town itself is one of the most picturesque places we've been too. Ok there's a fair amount of climbing to get up to the castle but that's the price you pay for such stunning views. A good few activities to keep the kids happy (mainly based on or around the river) and a good smattering of restaurants too.
Despite the searing temperatures outside the house remained remarkably cool and the rear terrace is perfect for evening drinks etc.
We can't recommend this place enough!
