Retreat at Rancho De Los Arboles
Our team had a great time at Cross Roads (Rancho De Los Arboles). Everything we needed for our 3 day stay was there and worked well. Ellen was quick to reply to our questions and the location of the property is great! The log cabin needs a little bit of work primarily on the outside, but was still a great getaway for us and we'd consider going back again. Seeing the horses & chickens around us had a calming effect and made the stay even better. The pool was very nice & used a lot in the afternoon and evenings. Overall it was great stay for our group.
Cute ranch, but just heads up
For the most part, we did enjoy our stay here. We loved the location and being in the countryside. The house is very clean and tidy.
Cons: we picked this vrbo to celebrate my mom's 60th, and to accommodate our family. A document was sent to me when we paid for the house that we cannot have over 25 people for an event/party, otherwise they will hold onto our deposit of $500. This was my mistake and I did not notice that in the document, but just a heads up that they very strict on that (we had about 30 people, which includes children as well). It was mistake on our part, but just something we looked over!
-the lights are pretty dim in the house
-a couple outlets were not working in the house- the A/C window unit in our room stopped working sat night, and also the outlet was not working. My husband uses a CPAP machine, and wasn't able to use it that night
-the window units is some rooms were weak, so it got hot in the middle of the night
-the bathroom electricity in the master was not working Sat evening to Sun morning- reached out to owner to figure where the electrical panel was sat night, but she didn't respond until we sent her another text in the morning about about something. she asked then if we got it fixed. The host is pleasant, but it did take a long time to hear back from her.
- the instructions said the key to the house would be on the island in the kitchen. there were several keys and we tried all of them, and none of them worked. We were heading to the lake and had to wait a bit for someone to give us the key to the house. I probably should've looked for it earlier, but I assumed it would be there.
- We kinda felt like their neighbors by the barn were watching us, so we always felt nervous if we were being too loud or too something. I know, weird, but just something my family all felt!
Marin, thank you for the review. So sorry that I didn't get back to you sooner regarding where the breaker box was located but the text I received was sent at 10:40 at night. I was traveling and was in EST so that was actually 11:40 at night for me. I had been asleep for several hours by that time. I did get back to you the next morning when I woke up. I will but a sign on the door of the closet where the breaker box is so people don't have to contact me. Again, so sorry about that.
I apologize that my housekeeper neglected to leave a key where you could find it but I am glad my ranch hand got one to you when you contacted me.
The people by the barn were taking care of the horses and were very busy doing that and are not concerned with the guests. It clearly states in the description of the property that it is a working horse farm and guests would see people working with and training horses.
And, yes...the rental contract does state that for a party of over 25 people there is a special event fee. Your party called and asked if we could do a favor and overlook that fee. But, this is a business and we have rates we charge and don't ordinarily wave them as a favor.
We have been doing this for nine years and have never gotten a 3 star review...mostly 5 and a few 4's. So sorry the property was not a better experience for you. Thank you for your feedback.
The home is in a rural setting, but still close enough to the city. It’s a unique home with brick floors, wide porches overlooking the horse pastures, and a beautiful pool. It’s so quiet, you can enjoy the sounds of nature all around you! The home is stocked well. We were there in very hot conditions and found the individual room air conditioners and fans to work well to keep house cool. There really wasn’t a check in process...the house was unlocked, so we just made ourselves at home. We never received a key (which didn’t bother us), so we left it unlocked the whole time. We never even worried about our safety or the safety of our belongings! It’s a great home for families but not couples, necessarily, if you are expecting “alone” time! Otherwise, it’s perfect!!!
Beautiful time. I've booked this location twice. Amazing
Thank you, Frances!! Can't wait for you to come again!!
Perfect for a getaway!
This place is amazing! The pictures don't do it justice. It seems like you are miles from civilization but you are just 1.5 miles from anything you need! It's just gorgeous!
Amazing Place !!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Ranch. House was very comfortable and had plenty of room. The location was very peaceful and restful, could sit on the back porch with coffee all day long!! Watched the ranch hands training horses. Owner kept in good contact with us during our stay. We will be back!!
Thank you, Randy! Glad you enjoyed and you and your wonderful family are welcome anytime.
