Love this place!
This is my third time stay at the property. I just love it. It is the perfect size in the perfect location. I love going there to relax and fish off the pier. Chris and George are wonderful and make me feel very welcome at the house. Hopefully I can go again in 2020.
Little slice of heaven close to home!
I just loved staying at this cottage! Nothing too fancy here, but perfect for what I was needing for my short get-away. This spot gives one the feeling of being in the woods while knowing you are still very close to civilization. The owner has made his lot very friendly for a variety of birds and I really enjoyed watching them visit while sitting in the screened room. "I would really like to go back" is what my brain is telling me as I write this review! Other pluses: if you get 'lost' hiking a nearby trail (by Janesville) and don't walk as far as you hoped, you can came back and do the stairs to the pier a few times -- nice workout! Oh, and the water quality -- I brought bottled water in case it was well water. It's not and it's delightful! Thanks so much for letting me stay in your cottage, Christine and George!
Refreshing Quiet Contemplative Piece of Heaven
The owners are gracious and attentive--they called on my arrival day to confirm I was settled in and all was well. The inside/out view of the cottage is beautiful---nature, trees, flowers, river and plenty of birds! Lovely homey feel, screened in porch, spacious deck and super clean! Stop at the local grocery and stock the refrigerator with nutritional needs for the week--and you can enjoy cocooning in this delightful quiet space all week! However, if you'd like to do some hiking or walking through the community, there are not any trails, walking paths nor sidewalks. I had my Golden Retriever with me and this was a bit disappointing--however, I did discover state parks and dog parks a little distance of a drive and was able to explore some outdoor activity with my dog. The access to the river from the property is a little tricky and there is little accessibility from stairs to water---but the algae bloom this time of year prohibits water play anyway, so we didn't have the opportunity to enjoy the river. If you have a dog and you enjoy the outdoor romp---this might not be too ideal. (I even tried local parks in Edgerton only to be met by signs that said, "No animals allowed in the park." However, if your heart's desire is for solitude and peaceful space--this is a wonderful place to spend time. One other---minor suggestion--it would be nice to have a more comfortable chair/writing desk area for the people coming to write and journal. Overall, very lovely space and kind, caring owners!
Thank you for taking the time to write a review of this ,as you stated, beautiful views, super clean cottage
Just to clarify a couple of things for future visitors.
The property has a huge private yard , great for fetching (If dog has been approved by owner). As with most waterways nowadays, at times there is algae, the majority of the time in our location, there is not.
We arent at all fond of what human behavior is doing to our lakes and rivers either.
As far as anyone looking to journal, there is an inside counter, deck, and screenporch, all facing the water. There is also a small table in the kitchen area.We have had numerous guests over the past 20 years (including journalists from the Chicago Tribune, artists, authors of novels etc.)that have come to write and be inspired.
It is called a hilltop cottage, and of course that would mean descending sturdy, safe, stairs to get to the pier. The shoreline area is 4 feet wide to access the pier or boat.
There are two dog parks in Edgerton, and if you were to google dog parks in Edgerton, would also find three others within 7-15 minutes driving distance
There are no "sidewalks" or "walking trails" anywhere around the lake or river, as there is no space for them. There are even limits on number of vehicles that can park in some areas.
There are plenty of sidewalks in Edgerton if one is looking for sidewalks. (2 miles from cottage). Many people that live outside of town, drive in , park their cars and walk around the small town of Edgerton, or if ones chooses, there are designated "walking trails" with 10-12 minutes from the cottage.
Outras atividades: esqui cross country / icefish-10min
