Good in parts
Well located, walk to town, Castle, Barter Books. Parking was ok…just!
Lounge definitely cosy, comfy sofas etc. Didn’t use the fire but I’m sure it would be lovely. Downstairs loo useful with small children. Broken stair rod, fixed with sellotape! Bedrooms all fine, comfortable beds, nice linen, plenty of towels. Bathroom a good size, wonderful shower!
Nice little outside patio, catches the morning sun. Needs a bit of a tidy up!
BUT!!! The kitchen is a nightmare! The photos are taken with a wide-angle lens so are somewhat deceptive. ‘White goods’ are ok, although the washing machine does like to dance around during the spin cycle…anti-vibration pads would help. The table is a good size and in keeping with the style and age of the property, but not clean at all. There was a reason why folks used to scrub them! The area around the bin and under the sink desperately needs attention. But the worst bit by far are the cooking facilities. For 7 people, it is barely adequate. The old gas cooker is in what was the original fireplace. Far too much wood surrounding a gas cooker in a cramped, unlit, unventilated space. And not at all clean. Needs all stripping out and possibly tiling, with a fan and definitely some lighting.
We own several rental properties of similar age around the county. Not sure how this gets a CP12 certificate!
Property really needs a handbook, with all appliance instructions, details of local GP and hospital etc.
And well into the 21st Century, WiFi is no longer a luxury, especially when so much needs to be booked in advance!
Communication with the owner was hit and miss.
