A lovely cottage, with great space and homely furnishings, a real pleasure!
Very comfortable and well equipped. It felt like home from home.
As lovely as the last visit. Mid February and it hit 18 degrees mid week.
Second visit to this quant cottage. Has everything you need. Pack light as the cottage is like a home from home. I still brought too much stuff and really didn’t need to as the cottage has everything you’ll need apart from food obviously. We were very fortunate with the weather. It was half term so a little busier then expected in Westwood Ho! Village. If you want the best cooked breakfast you must go to cafe in the village next to the coop.
There is another cafe around the corner near the surf school but I do not recommend going there. Flies circling around, warm food, dirty glass and odd staff staring at you while you eat.
Pubs are very expensive to eat and drink unless your minted and can afford to eat and drink out every day!
The walk down to the village is as steep as remembered but if you take your time walking back up the hill it’s a good workout.
Cottage is very cosy on cold evenings, curled up on the sofa with a book and a glass of wine. Just a shame the week flew by which we knew it would.
Some walls down stairs in the cottage could do with a lick of fresh white paint but that’s a minor blip in what’s a beautiful little hidden gem.
Thanks for letting us stay for the half term.
Back to reality now!!

Great views, and a lovely, clean, neat cottage.
We really enjoyed our stay at Old Saltys over Xmas. It was a lovely neat and clean looking Cottage. We were welcomed with a beautifully decorated tree, and decorations, a bottle of Cava, a lovely Christmas card and some scones & jam - local of course. The property is very modern on the inside. You really get a seaside feel from the decor. There's a lovely porch with fantastic views. The property even has binoculars, DVDs, magazines, games and books. Even though the Cottage allows animals, you did not get an animal smell in the place, which was great! We had the luxury of 2 toilets. One with a shower and other a bath which definitely helps when you have a full house. The kitchen has lots of crockery, cutlery etc. They even had kitchen towels, bin bags & cleaning gear for us to use. A very minor point; they could do with more tea towels, a dishwasher would also come in handy if you have a full house and for those big Christmas dinners, but appreciate that space is limited of course. You can fit 2 cars easily on their drive and plenty of on the road parking. It's around a 10-15 minute walk to the seaside and shops which is a bit of of hilly walk, but that's what makes it more of an adventure and typical of Devon which we like. We did find that some of the shops, takeaways, didn't stay open late in Westward Ho!, but that didn't bother us particularly; it was Christmas period after all. There is a good Tesco Extra & Coop for our needs and a 7 min drive to larger supermarkets. We also drove to some other towns as the place has easy access to other parts of North Devon. Clovelly is only 20 minute drive which has to be explored as it's very unique with pebbled streets. We even made a trip to Tintagel in Cornwall which is only about 1hr away. A great place with a welcoming feel, would certainly come back again.
