Fabulous
Jane and Luc are lovely hosts. Living next door, on hand if needed, but do not intrude. The accommodation has everything needed for an enjoyable and relaxing stay(electric blanket for chilly nights). We enjoyed the evenings sitting on the terrace looking at the views.
It was lovely to meet you both. We are glad you enjoyed your stay and hope to see you again
Stunning Views
We spent a very relaxing 3 days at Casa de Pepe. It had everything we needed for our stay in this beautiful area. Jane and Luc kindly let us have a late check out which was greatly appreciated. Thanks x
It was lovely to meet you both and Millie. We are glad you enjoyed your stay and hope to see you again.
Perfect Rural Relaxation Retreat
This is a perfect place to unwind and relax or to use as a base for exploring the area. We loved the peace and tranquillity. The only noise we heard were from the baby sparrows nesting not far away - it was that quiet.
Owner Jane and Luc live next door and were very friendly and helpful without being in any way intrusive. They are an excellent source of local knowledge.
The property itself is superb - there are two sun terraces - so you can take your pick! The plunge pool was absolutely lovely and the views are stunning.
It is home from home - all the facilities you need including a well-equipped kitchen, lots of space both inside and out.
The breadman comes Monday to Saturday delivering freshly baked goods and the fishman comes three times a week - with fresh squid, prawns and sardines. There is a good local supermarket in Comares too.
There are some good local restaurants nearby and the town of Comares is well worth a visit.
Cannot recommend highly enough. Superb. Thank you Jane and Luc.
Booked for quiet rest and recuperation: it delivered in spades!
We arrived early at the property due to the sat-nav sending us the 'scenic route' through little mountain villages and missed the main towns where we were to stop for supplies. The sat-nav ended our journey about 500 metres from the property so I had to ring Jane to ask if it was ok for us to arrive early, luckily it was and Luc came up the drive to fetch us down to the parking area. The house is exactly as pictured, except maybe the plants have been moved, an old Spanish cortijo, that has been understatedly modernised in a local rustic style. It was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. Jane had left us some provisions including bread (freshly baked by her fair hand), milk and a bottle of rather good wine. First impressions were definitely favourable and that's how things remained throughout our stay. Waking up in the morning: where's the traffic noise? - There wasn't any, there was only birdsong. Where are the rainclouds? - Nothing but blue skies. Who's about? - Nobody until the baker(daily) or fishmonger(three times a week) sounds his horn. There may be a queue but it was at most two people. Fresh sardines cooked on the bbq on fresh bread with a squeeze of lemon juice (lemons from J & L's tree) was our favourite breakfast. Every meal was eaten outside under the arches looking out at the glorious view of the valley with its olive groves, vineyards, mango and walnut trees. We were unexpectedly entertained by the nesting birds - greenfinches, sparrows and house martins as they tended their chicks and the occasional overpass by a kestrel and a peregrine falcon. I would suggest to take some binoculars as there is always something new to see in the valley. What I miss the most is that view, which at first looks as if there's not a lot going on but the more you look the more you see the intricacies of the local tree crop system of agriculture. We only went out to eat twice, both times being invited by Jane and Luc: firstly to a restaurant specialising in slow cooked leg of lamb so tender it just fell off the bone washed down by the very good house red. The other specialised in pork: the pork sirloin was the tastiest pork I've ever tasted and the tiramisu - well see for yourself. Both meals were inexpensive, the expression 'cheap' would be disrespectful for such food. The same is true of the meat from the butcher's counter at Benamargosa for wonderfully tender steaks. For us it delivered what it says on the tin. Thank you Jane and Luc.
It was an absolute pleasure to host Dewie and Hollie, and I hope they have left as friends and that they will return soon. They left the house spotless and were 'model' guests. I am glad that they appreciated the surroundings as much as we do. Diolch yn fawr iawn
