Very friendly host responds quickly to emails. Taxi to center of Rossi Square is about 10 euros. I don't recommend for the elderly or children because of steps and stairs inside apartment. Very clean ..enjoyed stay.
Thanks for your comments, but just want to say that children used to love the stairs and until now that was never a problem
A whiff of real house in the hearth of Lisbon
We were a group of three people and we stayed at Casa da Bica for 5 nights in the beginning of April.
The house was decorated with a lot of taste and the owner was very kind and ready to help when needed. The proximity of the Casa to the historic centre and to Cais do Sodre metro and train station was very convenient. However, if you need more privacy it could be difficult to be obtained as the whole house has open space conception, with a door at the bathroom only. The house is situated in very communicative area and it was a little bit noisy during the nights unless the windows were kept closed.
As a whole we had very positive impression both from the place and the owner and would recommend Casa da Bica to other travellers.
Thank you for your review I want to say that about the. Noise you must not forget that you are in the middle of a city although during your staying days was Easter holidays and for that that a lot more of young people on the streets , normally is quieter and as you said with the windows closed it is ok ,
Thanks anyway and thanks also to keep the house very well kept
Fabulous accommodation and location
Paulo's apartment is first rate. We loved the sunny aspect and charming decor. Great bed, bed linens and shower. We walked everywhere from this location and discovered wonderful eating options nearby. Thank you Paulo for all your tourist suggestions and for arranging our taxi to the airport. Having a wonderful apartment to return to after a busy day of touring really made our trip to your beautiful city very special.
Thank you both it was also a pleasure receiving you, and also thanks to take so good care of the house, you left it spotless,
Hope to see you again
Cozy and Charming
My wife and I had a wonderful stay at this lovely, well-appointed duplex, which overlooked a hilly street and had a terrific coffee shop a stone’s throw away. The loft was comfortable and the place was nice, clean and quiet. The location is ideal, walking distance to the middle of a district loaded with interesting shops, bars and restaurants. Our accommodations provided everything we needed, just like being at home. I would highly recommend this gem of a find! Almost forgot, our host was a perfect gentleman who greeted us warmly and made us feel like we were visiting family. Thank you Paulo. We will be back!
Thank you to you both it was also a pleasure to receive you, Casa da Bica is always open to receive you
Delightful house in ideal location
We much enjoyed our two weeks at Casa Bica, a tastefully and comfortably furnished little house, equipped to the most modern standards, e.g. with a dishwasher and washing machine. It is ideally located for a stay in Lisbon: up the hill to the Chiado or the the view point with bar overlooking the Tagus, down the hill to the railway line to the seaside, to the dining and shopping at Mercado da Ribeira, or walking back by the sea into the city centre. The landlord, Paulo Brito, is well organised and very helpful. We are keen to return some day.
It was also a pleasure receiving you at my house, and i am glad that you like it, You are really a fine guests
Steve and Nancy
We loved our stay at Casa Bica and highly recommend it to anyone planning a visit to Lisbon Historic Center. The location is ideal, close to everything yet in a quiet neighborhood. It's easy to walk to, also easy to access the local transportation, very easy walk to the river. The house itself is a gem - obviously decorated and renovated recently - very clean. The house has everything you need - a kitchen with microwave, coffee maker, dishwasher. 2 very cute bedrooms and a very nice bathroom. There is Wifi, a TV and an iPod doc. Paulo is an excellent host and was very helpful to us. He gave us good recommendations for sight seeing and was accessible if we had a question or problem. If you come to Casa Bica you won't be disappointed.
Steve and Nancy are the perfect guests it was a pleasure receiving them at Casa da Bica and I'm very glad that they appreciate their stay
Localizada numa zona histórica de Lisboa junto ao Elevador da Bica , numa zona calma e pitoresca
Right in the middle of the historical center of Lisbon, near 'Elevador da Bica', this is a brand new house were you will fell at home,
From here you can go visit Lisbon by walking nice surroundings, great restaurants, bars, etc but do not worry because the house is situated in a quiet place. The best place to stay for a longer holiday or a short term one.
This simple little quarter, which runs down from the Calçada do Combro/Rua do Loreto to the Tagus, exudes considerably more peacefulness than neighboring Bairro Alto. Only a few cars journey here due to its sloping site and its dense construction. Narrow streets and flights of steps dissect the old quarter, which appears extremely self contained and unspoiled. Here, as in Alfama and Mouraria, there are simple pubs, which serve the inhabitants of Bica, almost exclusively, as meeting places.
Elevador da Bica – The route to Lisbon’s stunning sights
Lisbon’s steep terrain has led to the funicular railroad complementing the city’s network of public transport. The funiculars or elevadores, an institution on their own, are a popular mode of travelling to the city’s panoramic viewpoints, known as Miradouros .
The popular funicular attractions include Elevador de Santa Justa, Elevador da Gloria and Elevador da Bica, which passes behind the city’s central market and through a quaint neighbourhood before reaching the popular viewpoint, Miradouro de Santa Catarina.
The funicular climbs Rua da Bica for some 200 metres, and the sights presented along are fascinating. The scenic ride in the Elevador da Bica Lisbon area serves as preview of amazing views of the Tagus river (rio Tejo) and dockyard, as the funicular eventually pulls into the Miradouro de Santa Catarina. After enjoying historic views, visitors can now enjoy the sweeping view of the city harbor and the magnificent Tagus river.
The unique magnetism of Elevador da Bica in Lisbon is found within the funicular carriage, the interesting trip and the panoramic views at the terraces, add to the charm of the experience. Many visitors readily agree that a trip on these funiculars are inherent part of any journey to Portugal’s capital city.
