We were disappointed but the owners are lovely people
When my husband and I were searching for a unique experience and the tipi came up the pictures were amazing and we booked right away because we were looking for a private and quiet weekend. We were under the impression the tipi was solitude with the owners a far distance away but the tipi was off the driveway and very close to the owners home and busy driveways. The landscape was cluttered from fire and rain runoff and looked like normal Maintence and clean up is never done. The outhouse was cute but the shower is shared with all the guests (There are 2 tipi tents that was rented by another family) and it was close to the main driveway and uncomfortable to use. If we were in our twenties i think it would of been fine. The tipi looked nothing like that beautiful night photo that got us to book our trip here. The inside was dirty and it had an old bed (not the beautiful set up in the photos). We felt mis lead and there for disappointed in our decision that we traveled 3.5 hours for what was really there when we arrived. The owners are a wonderful couple and very friendly and welcoming but we felt our money was wasted this trip. We booked for the entire weekend and left after the first night. There are so many beautiful places to camp I wish real up to date photos were available on the booking site. It would of made a big difference.
I am sorry you were not happy with your decision to rent our tipi. The tipi you rented is the same tipi that is in the nighttime photo, it was taken by a guest in June during the summer solstice. You chose to stay in July during the beginning of the monsoon season when it's raining and therefore you don't see the same sky. I cleaned the tipi myself before your arrival and as I explained - the top of the tipi is open and when the wind blows you may get a few pine needles in your tipi. Also the bed and mattress are brand new to the tipi this year and were purchased through Wayfair, I put the best quality bed and mattress in the tipi. The outdoor shower is not near the driveway and a shower curtain is hanging up for privacy. The tipi is up the canyon from our house and we have never had any complaints about being to close to our house. The tipi is accessed from our driveway but that way we can greet our guests and show them to their accommodations. I regret our house burned down in August of 2017 and we are still in the process of getting it rebuilt but there are no building supplies that will affect your stay. We also make sure to not have any work on our house done while we have customers so that they are not disturbed as I understand everyone comes for the peacefulness of the mountains. We have lots of deer, turkeys and elk that make their homes around our tipis. I am sorry you didn't lay in a hammock and relax and enjoy the time you spent here. We have no complaints from any other guests, actually we have a lot of repeat customers. We wish you well in your future travels.
Glamping at it's finest
This was the perfect get away, very peaceful and our hosts were so kind and helpful. We truly enjoyed every moment at the tipi. They have the necessities to keep me comfortable but rugged enough to make my husband feel like he was truly camping. We will be back for future trips for sure!!!!!!!!
Rustic and Comfortable
My wife and I are a retired couple that love to camp; however, like most folks at our age, sleeping comfortably is something we must have. We were not disappointed in this regard as the tipi had a very comfy queen-size bed that was very warm for us. The property owners supplied the camper with other conveniences such as a porta-potty, a shower with hot running water and a gas-operated fire pit. The property is quiet in a forested setting and it was a wonderful place in every way. Our only surprise was that the tipi leaked water more than we had anticipated and it rained on us several times during our stay. The weather also gets much colder than we expected (in August) at night, so make sure you take warm clothing with you. Overall our stay was very relaxing and restful. It is truly "glam" camping and it was wonderful.
