A relaxing family retreat with amazing views
We booked Cala Sabina for a 2-week relaxing break for just two of us. The property is well maintained, well equipped and has extensive air conditioning. The most inviting feature is the stunning view from the extensive and well-maintained gardens & pool across the Sabina countryside. The pool is large and cleaned daily (and is also in the sun!). The gardens have plenty of dining tables, shady places, loungers and large high-quality parasols when needed. It would be easy to spend most of your time just sitting in the gardens with your favourite drink looking out across the hillside.... The guest accommodation is primarily on the upper floor and the friendly owners occasionally use a totally separate residence on the lower floor; there is a full time caretaker during the week. Their presence is very discreet and does not impact on guest's privacy or enjoyment in any way. The owners are able to provide extensive local information & advice and the caretaker is quickly on hand to deal with any minor maintenance niggles if they arise. The garden, pool etc are for the sole use of guests and the arrangement works very well. Access to the upper floor is via a short flight of steps or a ramp if preferred and the property is secured with electrically operated gates. The local area (the Sabina) is rural and not geared up to extensive tourism - don't expect any of the local residents (including the 4-5 local restaurants) to speak English! There is lovely countryside and plenty of very old hilltop villages to visit. A car is essential here and the drive into Rome (including parking) is straightforward but we would strongly recommend that you bring or hire a Sat-Nav. Although rural, the local area is well served by supermarkets and smaller shops including butchers and bakers. This is a great property and location if you are looking for peace, relaxation, scenery and lounging in the pool! Highly recommended.
